The vernissage of “Lion on the Cross” by Ivan Klapez was a remarkable evening filled with moving stories, inspiring conversations, and an intimate encounter with the artist’s outstanding work. Our heartfelt thanks go to everyone who joined us and helped create such a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
Ivan Klapez is a figurative sculptor, though not always a naturalistic or realist one. His works feature literal transformations — a pigeon turning into a man, a woman into a man, one face flowing seamlessly into another, details shifting their meaning. Alongside these, there are symbolic metamorphoses born from the richness of associations in his art: a tramp becoming Zeus, a simple coat taking the form of angel wings. Yet all these transformations stem from a single, integrated core that gives his sculptures depth and expressive power.
