Tom Leamon
Tom’s vibrant and multidisciplinary work has devotees in the USA, London, and Portugal. His residency at ART1a is an opportunity for the Swiss audience to immerse themselves in his visionary art.
Born in 1981, Tom Leamon is a talented painter and maker driven by a passion for art and space design. Since beginning his professional career in 2001, after studying at Ware College and earning a BA in Fine Art from Loughborough University, Tom has exhibited his work at art fairs across North and South America and Europe.
Tom’s fascination with the ritual of making and the natural environment fuels his creativity. He draws inspiration from the highs and lows of life, channelling these experiences into his art to enrich both his own and others’ creative practices. Leamon’s art is characterised by its raw and unfettered exploration of portraiture and abstraction, often using found objects and vibrant colours.
In recent years, Leamon relocated to Portugal, where he co-founded The Beekeepers, an arts association, and Estúdio Yucca, an artist retreat and studio space. His move to the Algarve has influenced his work significantly, incorporating the natural beauty and diverse environments of the region.
