Barbara H. on the left did develop. She was allowed to study and got a good job in the arts and culture sector. She is now a successful artist. Madame L. looks at her, not with envy, but with the realisation that times have changed for the better.
A few decades and the place of women in society can change a lot. That’s how I met Madame L., on the right. She confided in me that she would have liked to develop more. But at that time, the norm was that a woman had to be there for her children.
The man with the magnolia collar is watching this scene. He knows that one does not exclude the other. It is his mother who is both a mother and an artist.
