Monique Eller

After 10 years, Monique Eller once again crossed paths with Pius Muller to invite the Swiss audience into the world of her art. This time she will present photographs inspired by the beauty of Luzern – the home of ART1a.
Monique Eller is a photographer living and working in the Netherlands. The artist regularly participates in national and international exhibitions and collaborates with notable companies. Her artworks can be found in museums and several private and company art collections. Monique Eller specialises in portraits and still life, which always presents a complex, multi-layered story.

A characteristic feature of her work is the contrasting light, which is the result of her fascination with 17th-century painting and especially Caravaggio’s chiaroscuro. In her carefully directed works, the artist addresses very important contemporary issues such as diversity, equality, people of color, gender identity etc. Eller’s works can be studied for hours.
mirror to us. She shapes her own reality
with her photos. Her search becomes
visible in her work. Searching for an idea to
renew itself, and at the same time to
critically comment on the world.
